Drunk woman arrested after taking out church with her car

Ormond Beach police officers said they arrested a 19-year-old woman after multiple calls came in about someone who crashed into property and attempting to flee.

Police said they started to get the calls around 10:20 p.m. Friday night after a car crashed into a home at 10 Arbor Lake Park and the female driver, later identified as 19-year-old Amber Fazal tried to flee.

Police said many people reported the car had crashed into multiple fences, screened patios and A/C units at Police said a witness tried to block Fazal while waiting for police. Fazal crashed into the witness’ car as she fled from the scene in her 2012 Honda, police said. Police said an officer spotted the crash vehicle near Granada Boulevard and Nova Road and attempted to make a traffic stop.

Police said Fazal was weaving all over the road and attempted to negotiate a turn at Granada Boulevard and Old Tomoka Road when she struck a curb. Fazal continued and crashed through some hedges at the Tomoka United Methodist Church at 1000 Old Tomoka Road where the car finally stopped, police said.

Police said Faza jumped out of the car and tried to run away, but an officer tazed and wrestled her to the ground. Police said a passenger, 18-year-old Manali Parekh was unharmed and remained at the scene to talk to police. Fazal took a breathlyzer test and police said she blew twice the legal limit and was arrested. Fazal was taken to the Volusia County Jail.
